Step 1: Pre-Move Planning & Tips

  • Research the destination you are moving to and what documentation will be required. For more advice, please visit the FIDI guides on the following link. https://www.fidi.org/customs-guides
  • Obtain your personalised quotation by completing our "Get a Quote" form. All quotes include our terms of service and timescales for the move.
  • Once you have confirmed your moving date, notify landlords, utility providers, and relevant services of your move.
  • Learn the Language: If your destination country speaks a different language, take the time to learn basic phrases and expressions. Language proficiency will help you navigate daily life, interact with locals, and feel more at home in your new surroundings.
  • Secure Accommodation in Advance: Finding suitable accommodation before arriving in your new country will ease the stress of relocation. Consider temporary options like serviced apartments or Airbnb while you search for a more permanent home that aligns with your needs and preferences

Step 2: Packing and Preparation

  • If you have chosen a self-packing service, gather packing supplies (boxes, tape, bubble wrap, etc.).
  • Pack non-essential items and label boxes clearly.
  • Declutter and clear out drawers and cupboards to avoid packing unnecessary items.
  • Keep a separate bag for passports and important documents away from the goods to be packed.
  • Discuss insurance options with your move manager to ensure your goods are protected.
  • Plan a moving day kit (essentials like chargers, toiletries, and snacks).

Step 3: Finalising and Moving Day

  • Confirm details with your moving company.
  • Defrost the freezer and disconnect appliances.
  • Conduct a final walkthrough of your old home.
  • Ensure all essentials are packed and accessible.

FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

  • When should I contact International Removal Companies?

We suggest booking with Ignite Relocations or another removal company 2-3 months before your move. While we can accommodate shorter notice periods, even as little as a week or two, it's important to consider the various demands on your time as your move date approaches. Providing more notice allows us to manage your move smoothly and select the best options without the stress of tight deadlines.

  • What packing materials do you use?

When you choose Ignite Relocations for international shipping and removals, we provide top-quality packing materials to safeguard your belongings from extreme temperatures, humidity, rough roads, and turbulent seas.

  • How should I prepare for the move?

For items you do not wish for us to pack or move, such as documentation, passports, clothing, and other important information, please set them aside in a separate area. Our crews will avoid packing any areas you specify.

Your preparation is crucial to help our crews identify what needs to be packed. You can use 'do not move' stickers or segregate items in a different area. This ensures we only pack what you want to move, making the process smoother for everyone.

Remember to defrost fridges and freezers, disconnect electrical items, and have beds unmade and soft furnishings ready to pack. Ensure washing machines, air conditioners, and coffee machines are emptied of water to prevent any leaks during transit.

Don't forget to prepare sheds, attics, garages, and cellars. Be aware that some countries may fumigate or treat items that are not cleaned. Familiarise yourself with our international removal tips and checklist to help you get ready for moving day.

  • Do I need to list and write an inventory of my goods?

Our crews will create a comprehensive inventory of the items you're shipping. This general list is required for customs but won't detail each item's contents. If you'd like a detailed list for your own

records, you can compile one as you pack, though it's not necessary for our logistics.

If you've pre-packed any boxes, please keep a list of their contents so we can include some information in our inventory.

  • Do you offer insurance?

    Yes, we do.

Ignite Relocations customers can opt for an "All Risks" policy, which covers your goods from collection to final delivery. We highly recommend that all our customers insure their goods in transit to safeguard their consignment and meet legal responsibilities. While we take every reasonable precaution to protect your items from transit damage, experience shows that inherent risks exist during sea, air, or road journeys. If you choose to insure your goods, ensure they are covered for their full replacement value at the destination.

  • What other services do you offer?

We provide a wide range of additional services to accommodate all aspects of your move under one umbrella, ensuring a smoother process. Here are some of the additional services we offer:

    • Ignite protection insurance
    • Home Cleaning
    • Real time tracking
    • Money FX
    • Handyman Services
    • Pet Moving
    • Storage

  • How do you calculate shipping costs?

International shipping costs are determined by the total volume of your goods being shipped overseas. Ignite Relocations includes this volume in their quotations to ensure full transparency regarding any changes.

  • Do you offer a door-to-door services?

Ignite Relocations offers a service where we pack your items at your origin address, ship your goods, and deliver them directly to your new home at the destination. If needed, we can also deliver to a storage facility at the destination.

  • How do you calculate the cost of my shipment?

The cost of your shipment depends on several factors, including the origin and destination, the type of service you select (such as sea freight, air freight, road freight, or door-to-door), and the weight and/or volume of the items being transported.

To determine the shipping costs, we need both the actual weight and the volumetric weight of your items. The initial price you receive at the time of booking, whether online or over the phone, is an estimate based on the measurements and weights you provide.

  • Do I need to be present on-site during packing or delivery?

You or a direct representative who knows exactly what is being moved must be present. This ensures a smooth process on the day. Our crews will have a list of items to be moved, but someone will need to be there for the final walk-through. This walk-through is beneficial for you as a customer to ensure all items are packed and nothing is left behind.
